Last year I went for a long ride on my bike. I took every small and rural route I could find. Every small town seems to have their cemeteries on the main drag so I passed quite a few. All I saw were flags and flags and flags marking the final resting place of this nations veterans.
I wound up getting very drunk with the memory of all those little flags. This year I'm at the house, sober and remembering. Problem for me is I know they are still there and now have more company.

I have a Beer every Memorial day for the 6 good friends I no longer have. Although I retired in '06, I still miss it all dearly and would be back in tomorrow if there was a way. Today, and the 4th are two Holidays that grow ten fold in meaning every year since. I guess when I was in I never looked at it in any other way than it was just a "job" I liked doing.

For those friends and brothers who are no longer with us, and to those who are, I salute each and everyone of you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
