If you're going to replace one pin you need to replace them all. If one broke the others probably aren't far behind.

No.... not really. Sure the load wears on the pin......but really it's the hammering of the engine that beats them to death and breaks them. Diesels are worse. You need to keep them on hand. The guys who have 782D's break them all the time.

I replaced it with a temporary expedient (cap screw with 1.25" long 1/4" shoulder, then #10 threads) and ordered the right Spirol pin.

.....oh, and it was a Spirol pin. I ordered 3 of them and will get them in this weekend when they arrive.

That made no sense. 1/4" bolts don't have #10 threads.

So, you put a bolt in it.... that will hold it for a while. McMaster Carr has the pins. Good price too.

Probably a shoulder bolt--those are designated by shoulder dia, not thread size.

No, it's an allen head fastener that has a smooth steel shank 1/4" in diameter by 1.25" long, then 1/4" of #10 or #12 threads. It fit perfectly, but as soon as I get the Spirols, I'll replace it with the right part.

I didn't want to use a bolt as I didn't want the threads eating away at the trunions while the Spirols come, and Ace Hardware had em. Shoulder bolt sounds right. It's really amazing the Spirols have enough shear strength to pull the tractor yet yield when they need to.

I ordered the fan while I was at it too. Cool is good.

#10 or#12 are bolt sizes. !/4in bolt is either 20 tpi or 28 tpi.
