I come from a small town where you could have gotten away with that in the past.

They don't anyone have any fun any more!

When the cop came and told grandma to take the keys from my grandpa, he just started riding his lawn mower around town. We put a orange flag on it so people could see him, and everybody just watched out for him.

Yeah, that's a good one.
I remember when I was real young, grandpa had a old guy then working for him. Tooty Pipegrass was his name. He lived about ten miles from here, and he came to work with his 8N.
Cop "took" his license away the night before. Said he was drinking too much, and his eyesight wasn't good enough to drive anymore, so took his license away for good.
Didn't stop Tooty, that 8N took him to work, town for groceries, and tavern to tavern, and back home. DETERMINATION, I guess.

I'm sure there was plenty, Sam!

Todd, with a name like Tooty Pipegrass, I wonder if there was something other than booze involved! Maybe some of that Wildwood weed?

My ex-neighbor was the town drunk. Didn't have a license so he rode around on his 8N. He'd drive over to the next town to stock up on beer. They must have arrested him 10 times for driving that tractor drunk.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
