It was a compact Kubota tractor, with loader and a backhoe. Had 211hrs on it and the price was $2514. Didn't look like it had ever been used. Paint wasn't even wore off the bucket on the hoe or the loader. Tractor was probably in the 35-45HP range. Pretty good size, and in like new condition.

I see those from time to time on CL here in Phoenix. I write them off as scams!

It was definetly a scam. I've seen lots of compact tractors listed with roughly the same hours and they are always $1500-3000. There is also never a number to call. I assume they are trolling for email addresses so they can fill your inbox with trash mail.

Besides, who lists something at $2514? Why not $2500?

You are right on. It is definitely a scam. They want your email address, or worse, your deposit to hold the tractor. Just follow the "If it looks to good to be true" rule.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
