Future Cub collector
I'd like to share a picture of my granddaughter, Rylynn. She just turned 6 yesterday and one of her most favorite things to do when visiting, is drive the 149 around the back yard by herself. She's been riding on my lap for at least a couple of years now, and has well learned all the do's and don'ts of being safe. She knows how to check the oil each time out, pull the choke when cold and start it by herself. I still do the gas filling, although she is watching and learning. I rigged a throttle stop on the lever so she has about 1/2 throttle at max. The yard is a little over an acre of flat grass with a few widely spaced trees, perfect for training new Cub operators (and future grass cutters!) If you think this is just the bragging of a proud grandpa, you're darn right!!

Good job Doc. My son is the same age and has been driving alone for a while now. Teaching him the fine art of backing a trailer now. I think he's the only kid in his class that can do such things and he's proud of it. Way to go!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
