That is good.
In high school I work one summer with the local driveway paver.
Some customers would always insist on having us use the same exact stuff they pave roads with.
The boss would tell them it is not as good, but sometimes they would not listen.
Us pee-ons doing the labor loved it because the boss would split the extra profit with us.

RAIN TAX? They'll tax anything they can won't they?

Next up------ Sun Tax, or maybe wind tax?

Nik,

I don't live in MD, but I think the rain tax is a Chesapeake Bay watershed tax. Impervious surfaces create run off that goes direct into storm drains, then streams, rivers, eventually into the Bay. They are still trying to clean up the Bay, so that's where the money is supposed to go. Supposed to go. No telling where it actually ends up.

Awesome drive Gene! I'm sure it will be better than what you had from the sounds of it.
Couple of my 2 cents worth comments on different driveway surfaces (let me start out by saying "a tax on pavement"!!!! what the heck?? like sawdusted said, who knows where that money really goes, sad, really sad)

So after that, I am a "concrete Kid" my Grandfather made his living doing flatwork concrete and I still believe it is the best and only way to go. He always said there are 2 types of concrete, those with cracks and those that are going to crack, last one I did I used the fiber and cut it every 8', never had any other cracks, loved it, think I got lucky.

Slow forward to the present, we have lived in a place for almost 15 yrs now with an asphalt drive, it has cracks, it has chain scratches, it has bad spots, but it's almost 20 yrs old what do you expect? In northern Michigan that's probably about as good as it gets. I've painted it about every 3 years, that job stinks and I am always disappointed at how long it "doesn't last". I really think it's a toss up, you get what you pay for and when you have lots of sq/ft to pay for asphalt wins out. I had never heard of putting another layer on, that might actually be a great idea.

I would be interested in checking out those new newfangled tires if I had a new drive.
Happy Plowing Gene!!
(It's going to be a mild winter, think positive...)

Red,
Yes a new top layer can be put down on the old surface. I did it 3 years ago and just sealed it for the first time this year. It looks great, just like new. The base is over 25 years old and I try to seal it every 3 years.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
