Default New to me 128.

I just bought a 128 this morning. It needs a clutch. $200.00. I think I did ok. I will have pictures this evening. Number 2 after my 2284.

Out camping in Ohio, saw a 128 that didn't look bad at all besides the flat back tires, can tell it hasn't been used in a while, only reason I didn't ask if it could have been bought is that the bed of my Dakota wouldn't fit a tractor and all of my camping gear at the same time.

Well my $200.00 128 just got expensive. The PO said the clutch was bad but not which one. I didn't think to ask. Turns out it is the the front one. I rebuilt the carb, cleaned the fuel system, installed a new battery. Attempted to start and then locked up. The front clutch is loose. Take everything apart and the front clutch drive plate is all wallowed out and the crank snout is also buggered up pretty good and the key and keyway is toast. I have been trying to find the best way to reduce resolution on my pics to get them loaded to my photo site so no pics yet. Any thoughts on where to start on the crank problem. New crank with a rebuild on the motor, search for replacement motor. I am in no hurry whatever I do. This is a hobby not for work. The 2284 was for work, but the land deal fell through.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
