An interesting question, Sir. That is the south end of the super which the blade has resided on since new. I am not sure if my dad will be taking it or if it will be mine to do as I wish. We split the purchase so far.

Nice score! I recently got a really nice 401 Blade BUT it is the manual one. Was used very little and hard to pass up for the price. SO, I have read several threads on here about finding an aftermarket cylinder for this blade. I found a few posts with dimensions but was wondering if anyone has found an aftermarket replacement and, if so, what is the part number?

Thanks!

Finally flipped this 401 blade over to inspect previous neglect. Hope it is not too far gone.

No sense flipping the cutting edge. Probably not enough meat left on it to keep it from rolling under. Freaking previous owners. 1 hours maintenance a year throughout its life would have meant alot.

Knocked some scale off the face off the blade where the edge attaches.

So what are my chances the remaining edge left to bolt the new cutting edge to will not roll under?

Here is a shot of the skid shoes. I'll have to trade labor with my brother for his help to weld/beef them up.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
