Default 2182 Kubota shuts down when warm

So, thanks to Redduece, I have WG 600 manual now !!! Thank you !

My Kubota WG600 gas engine in my 1995 2182 has 800 hours on the clock. This spring, I encountered my first issue with it.

The engine starts cold just fine, but, when it has been operating a while, it shuts down, very suddenly. No missing or loss of power, it just dies. It will not restart until cold.

I have a used coil on the way from Patton Acres, hoping it's a good one. I found new ones but they are listed at 180 dollars. Is there a more common, lower cost replacement for Kubota KB-15661-68902 that anyone knows of ?

Also, I am wondering about distritutor components, cap rotor and whatever is the trigger device in there.

If anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears. Seems to me from what I know at this point that it is ignition so, I am going after the most likely suspects.

I am currently printing the manual, so dont know much at this point.

thanks all,

John

Don't rule out fuel starvation if you have not serviced the fuel system. They are notorious for having plugged shut off valves and rotted fuel lines. Here are some things to look at.

Thanks guys,

Yes, the fuel isssue I am pursuing as well.... Ugghhh, getting that tank out. All the fuel system is original equipment, so, it's time.

I guess the fenders are held down by the bolts that go down through the seat tracks. Have all out but the right rear and it's a bugger to get a wrench on that nut up under there.

I am wondering if lines are possibly breaking down and sending debris to the carb.

It died in the yard the other day. Would not restart when cold. So, I pushed it back to the shop. Once in the shop, it started. Perhaps jets are being plugged by bits of debris from the fuel system getting into the float bowl.

Not sure if I ever even changed that fuel filter before.

thanks,

j

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
