Cadet 95 S/N dilemma
I recently acquired a Cadet 95e. In the deal it also included a second rolling chassis with the traction motor, tranny & rear end. The full blown machine has a scratch line on the S/N that wiped out the second last digit. All I read is 0340020U0084?1. There are only 10 options available. I plan on looking up the registry list and hopefully eliminate 9 other numbers and revealed the one missing one which should then be mine.
The rolling chassis has a full S/N of 0340020U007594. Is my simplest option to restore the roller and then put all of the good parts from the 1st unit onto it and register as the second number? Or, would that be a no-no. Mike |

I think he meant "options" as in options for the missing digit; there are 10 digits from 0-9 and he wants to figure out what that digit is so he can register his machine.

I thought he was talking about "model options".

Yes indeedie, Lindstrom hit the nail on the head.
I had learned all the S/N info and meanings in previous research. I am still wondering about swapping out the frames and using the known full S/N in instead. I wouldn't want to commit a mortal sin and spend an addition month in purgatory. The once or twice I bumped into the registry site it always wants me to register my machine first. I'm not sure where I can go to "Look Up" existing registered machines. ML |

Lindstrom
I hadn't thought of it in that fashion. I was more focused on the running one because the chassis one was more of secondary issue and would require more intense work. I didn't want to completely tear down the runner and put it all on the secondary chassis. As a result, I was totally focused on the runner first. Thanks for the mental tweak to rewire my thought process. ML |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
