Default Great Site!

Hi all. I came across this forum in my search for information on setting up the QA42A snow thrower on my '76 1650. This little beast has been in my family since my dad bought it new so I could take on a 3 acre cutting job. Last year was the first year that I ever had to do any significant work on it, replacing the engine with another identical Kohler that had only 50 hours on it. I live in SW Ontario on almost an acre of grass so this machine gets regular use. I am amazed at the level of knowledge and displays of mechanical ingenuity when I've read through these threads and look forward to learning more about my Cub Cadet.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
