Just my 2 cents but I would rent a stump grinder. BTDT. They take a wicked beating and one attached to your PTO is going to beat your tractor. Back in the day when I lived in CT my neighbor and I rented a Rayco Super Jr RG1625 over the weekend, ( they only charged for 1 day on weekends) we ran the crap out of it and were on the last stump when we hit a huge spike, broke a high dollar Kevlar belt on it, Oh well not our problem. If you only need it once in a while rent it. Unless you just gotta have one. Link to the company we rented from. http://www.superiorrental.com/rental...arge-w-Trailer
Oh I forgot it will also grind rock outcroppings so you don't hit them with your mower blades.

I was going to say the same thing Sam did. Have you ever seen one used on a tractor's 3pt? Beats the hell out of the tractor. Good way to tear up a PTO. I don't like them. I'm with Sam, just rent one.

Ya, you may break a shaft inside. This was done by someone in a hurry that didn't pull the drawbar out and turned left with a haybine attached. $500 shaft that was thankfully unavailable at the moment, so I got a used one for half that from Wengers. Bearing plate also NLA, fixed it with Belzona. Also replaced the leaky load control shaft seals while the case was empty. He got off easy cause I didn't really charge labor, since I needed it.

I don't know if they make one? But, this would be an ideal situation for a hydraulically driven attachment, fluid is cheaper and takes abuse better than steel.

It has a slip clutch and I have at least 75 stumps in my yard. I have cut the stumps as low to the ground as possible but my deck still catches them every once in a while. This is when bad things happen to good Cubs. I also live in the middle of nowhere so going to the local rental can't isn't really an option. If anyone local says Hilltop then they haven't used them. Nothing works there. I have hired a service in the past and paid anywhere between $100 to $250 per stump. Guess what, buying a grinder is cheaper. I'm buying one and I don't care what it does to my tractor. It's under warranty.

If I had that many stumps to grind, don't know what I'd do. Probably just buy a stump grinder, then resell it, but not a 3pt mounted one. Just my |

A backhoe attachment will work better to remove stumps.

I ground up 16 stumps in a weekend after renting a dingo with a stump grinder attachment. A couple of guys would line up work (stumps to grind) and then rent the machine and make some $$. Going rate used to be $4-$5 an inch on the diameter of the stump. Just make sure that you call ahead for utility lines. In my area, the slide the gas lines under trees and roads--not a good practice, in fact, down right idiotic, but you still must call 1 business day ahead before you dig. Have fun and stay safe.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
