Default 1782 dash wiring voltage regulator

Searching for a reason the amp light on a 1782 will stay on. (#6)
when the key is on the amp light gets power from the hour meter (red and white wire)
The other side of the bulb has less voltage from the voltage sensor (white wire)
in the circuit. Then the bulb will light.
When power is applied to the red and white wire on the other side of the voltage sensor from the dynamo it should send power to the white wire which would equal the voltage from the hour meter putting the light out.

Trying to find out where this voltage regulator is located.

Joe it not a regulator, it just turns on the idiot light. Put a set of gauges on it and be happy. The sensor control is located at the front on the left side next to the Voltage regulator.

Default Thank you

boy they sure made a mess of things for an engine that only needs voltage for the glow plugs. The shut off solenoid could be done away with.

Just in the looking stage now.
Thank you
Joe

Yes it needs gauges

Joe the 1782 I owned had a manual shutdown. The electric gizmo took a dump and the PO had it rigged with a zip tie. I put the cable on it.

Default charging on the 1782

It arrived today will post photo's when I get them resized
the charging is fine after starting at mid throttle the voltage across the battery terminals reads 14.5 Volts.
So the problem is in the fancy dash unit.

Will be upgrading or downgrading to the ones that you can actually see what is happening. ( gauges)

Thank all for the advise and guidance
Joe

I know this thread is for a 1782 and the voltage regulator, however I found a service bulletin for a cyclops with the same number regulator but with a kohler engine. It sounds like the problem being described here and it also sounds like the voltage sensor was susceptible to voltage spikes and when one goes bad, it causes the indicator light to light up. I have included what I found for reference. It may or may not pertain and help with this problem.

The charge light on the Cyclops has been a problem. Check the voltage with a meter and if it's OK just remove the bulb, other wise you will make yourself crazy. Pics are how I fixed the problem.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
