Default 169 Paint Restoration?

Any way to clean/restore/brighten original paint without re-spray?

Rubbing compound, fine wet sand, Bar Keepers Friend, Tide with bleach, homebrew?......just grasping at straws here....I'm not much of a painter and would prefer original "patina" anyway.

Rustoleum Wipe New??? I don't know...never tried the stuff but works well on the TV ad. Maybe Olds45512 aka Tim might have the answer...He is THE paint guru here!

There was a product out several years back that you could spray on equipment that had pretty good paint but was weathered from sitting outdoors. I saw it in Farm Show magazine. Don't recall the name and never met anyone who ever used it.

Buff it with buffing compound and wax it. You will need a high speed buffer. They cost more than paint guns though.

I hand rubbed an old chev pickup from chalky grey to beautiful navy blue once with about of 8 hrs of labor, rubbing compound, and wax.

This is more embedded grime than fading though, I think.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll probably test a few different things...keep them coming...

I would use a clay bar then buff it out. I have an electric buffer from harbor freight and it works fine.

Take the small parts off, like your tread plates and paint them.

It would look a heck of a lot better and be a great worker!

For starters, a little hand scrub with soap never hurts I guess, so I tried a few different ones, and the winner is Tide with Bleach.

Some patch test pics attached,,,,the dirty "before" sections are actually AFTER a scrub at the local DIY car wash.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
