Cracked frame 1512
Well on the last stages of my 3 pt hitch builds and was trying to figure out my next cub project.
Turns out one presented itself to me! While looking at my 1512 I noticed a crack in the frame right at the end of the engine mounting plate. Looks like only one side cracked. 222717CE-0DE5-4D6C-81EC-9A276441AC0C.jpg Time to pull the engine and weld the frame. Is this a common place for the frame to crack?

I have never had one crack there, but with a diesel it does not surprise me. How many hours on the tractor?

Looks like it’s time to drill a hole, grind the crack, and weld er up. Hope you don’t find anymore but that’s not bad.

1,630+ hours. I purchased it used with 900+ in 2005 ish.
The tractor has worked hard most of its life. I know I have pushed it pretty hard hauling firewood, plowing snow, moving dirt. Just trying to figure out why there and if I need to modify things so I won’t cause more issues.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
