Well finally got spark after cleaning the terminals on the coil. Is there anything out there on how to pull the carb off the engine and clean it? It’s not taking fuel through the carb

Did you try reading the engine service manual?
It is in the "Resources" section, under "Technical Library-Tractors". |

Removing the carb is pretty self-evident. If this is your first rodeo, take a picture of the linkages so you can put it back together the same way. Fuel hose, governor link, throttle and choke cables. Then... Two slotted 1/2 inch bolts on the ears at the carb flange, loosen with an open end wrench, then use a screwdriver to remove, loosen them together, both sides a couple turns at a time. If you loosen only one, it will bind up. You need a carb rebuild kit, carb cleaner, and a clean work area.

Is the fuel shut off? Unhook the fuel line feeding your carburetor. Gas should pour out.

Make sure that fuel is getting to the carburetor. The lines can get plugged. If fuel is getting to the carb, I'd drop the bowl. There should be fuel in the bowl. If not, the inlet is clogged. Spray carb cleaner in the inlet until you see it coming out the other side. If there is fuel in the bowl then the main jet is clogged. Spray carb cleaner, compressed air, and/or fish a very small wire up the main jet to unclog it. I my experience, it doesn't take much to clog or unclog the main jet. At this point I'd put the bowl back on and see if she fires.

If your carb has a steel entrance elbow, I have seen them nearly rusted closed before.
Sounds like it's carb overhaul time. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
