If it is working, the white dial just ticks like a clock (to show it's running) It should run when the key is on. The red dial indicates hours 0 to 60, there should be a yellow dial which I can't make ot in your picture. Yellow dial indicates hours up to 600. Here is link to tech section info....

The yellow is hidden under the red. So 3033 hours? So far it looks good for the years and hours. No battery or gas, so no start. But soon i think. Weather is turning wet and cooler.

333 or 933 if it rolled over once. At 3033 it would probably smoke some

That is a nice looking 1000! It is a great find, especially at a furniture store.
I have only seen one. It is deteriorating at an outdoor power equipment shop. The guy wants $1000 for it. I think he will have it for a long time. Sad.

Hour meter
Finally put battery in today, and the meter ticks when switched on. Starter cranks and motor sounds like it has compression. Still no gas, so not started yet. Soon!

It lives!
Poured a little gas in, turned the key, and it fired right up, with no smoke or fuss. After a minute or so, pulled the throttle back to idle, and it just sat there chuckling. Tried the gears, and feathered the clutch. Again, no fuss! And, all for $225.00, delivered to my carport. Happiness is IHCC, again.
