When in doubt, ask, and you shall receive the answer.
Someone's been there, done that.
Looks good.

Finally had a break from storm and leaf cleanup yesterday and started the wood stove in the barn. Got it up over 60 degrees and got the hood painted. Last painting of the season. I want to get the decals installed. I have installed many decals over the years but these original decals for the hood are a tad different. It looks like some of the letters are separate, for example C U B and C A D E T are all individual. It also looks like the I for international is separated from _nternational.

Usually I spray the area good with a mix of water and soap detergent so I can move things around and get bubbles out. I usually apply the decal then pull the backer off slowly while everything is still wet and then work out any wrinkles or bubbles. If I do that with these I risk the individual letters moving. Has anyone ever tried leaving the backing on until everything is dry and them wetting it good to remove?

What do you guys do to get the best results?

Thanks

Bill

You can leave the transfer tape on until it's dry and it will peel right off, no need to wet it.

That IS true, but wetting it will allow you to move the decal around a little before it sets. I left the backing on until it was situated and then slowly pulled it back at a steep angle. Some of the edges might have tried to come up, but you can catch it pretty quickly before things get too out of whack.

Good luck!

He asked about putting them on wet and then letting them dry completely before removing the transfer tape, he wasn't asking about putting them on dry and I wasn't suggesting he do so.

A rainy day project. Thanks again for everyone's advice. A little before and after.

I think I have most of the tedious painting done, engine, clutch, grill and hood. Next spring the frame and rear end.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
