Sorry to bring up an old thread fellas .

Jmech- I reviewed the thread and called ace - gave them the part number and was told it doesn't exist. Does anyone else know of the kit for these? My 169 carb is worn at the throttle bushing and pulling air.
Any help is appreciated .

Ps. This is for the 169 carb ...i realize the thread was orig for the 126 carb which is different*

Yeah... Hillman bought Servalite. I have the bushings. I'll try to remember to get the Hillman number tonight.

Make sure a mud dauber didn't plug up the bowl vent. That will make them overflow.

Hey Jim, have you done this repair before?

Don't want to go over it again if you have, but I will because it goes along with the thread, and maybe someone else will read it.

You will need a Dremel tool with a small burr bit, or very small grinding bit. Grind the threaded end of the screws that hold the butterfly to the throttle shaft. I'll say that again: The THREADED end, NOT the head. Grind them off flush to the shaft. Then, when you go to unscrew them, they won't break off. The screws are staked/crushed on the threaded end to the throttle shaft to keep them from coming out. You don't want to break one off, they are a PITA to get out because they are so small.

You need to get some new brass screws to replace the old ones. I use brass because they are easy to crush, and if they break later, easier to get out. Brass holds up fine. I just bought a box of 100 from McMaster Carr (they don't cost much). You likely won't be able to get them locally, as they are one size smaller than most stores carry. They are a #3X48 and I get 1/4" long ones. I use blue loctite when I install them, and then crush them with vice grips on the end. If you ever need to work on it again, repeat procedure.

The bushings I keep are a 58086A.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
