Default 1650 questions

I'm going to look at a 1650 tonight after work and was wondering besides the engine mounts what should I be looking for . I currently have a 123 but was looking for something a little bigger for a larger property that I recently purchased .

Bigger in terms of what? Larger deck?

Quietlines can be really good tractors, but usually take a lot of time and money to get into good shape. They just shake themselves to death because people don't maintain them well. I would look for an '82 series through a Cyclops. Unless you just want a project machine....

I have a 1450. When I bought it, it was rough and I knew it. I did spend the time and money to bring it into decent shape.

The biggest issue that I can pass along is (A) Make the Engine Cradle modification (weld the bracket), and (B) the 4 Engine Mounts. I went with a rubberized mount but some have went with solid steel.

Other than that, the maintenance is like any other Cub Cadet.

I will say, my 1450 is one of my favorites, and is a year round work horse.

Rumor has it, Eddie Money had a ql and it was the inspiration for this song.

Check, muffler, air box sheet metal and aluminum casting, fuel tank, flex dsic joints, oil pan to ISO mounting bolts, vibration through full rpm range, function of hydraulic lift, , smooth operation of tractor through all speeds, and smooth transition between forward and reverse.........

If you can reach in and with one arm, grab the top of the engine and give it a good shake, and the k341aqs moves around rather easily,.. then ask of a lower price, or pass it and move on to what other members have suggested. The fear here is a bad oil pan, and possibility of wallowed out iso mount holes in the engine cradle. That's just the start,....

Hopefully this 1650 is pretty good all around, and has a price to your liking!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
