Yep, as a seller you can ask whatever price you want. You'll likely get it, happens everyday.

I bow out.

NOTE:
In 1970 a brand new hydraulic lift kit was $81 or $91 depending on what model you wanted it for.

All the unit is, is a power steering pump with a pulley, a valve and a cylinder (+mounting parts). There are thousands of them out there. Pay whatever you want to part with. I just don't think that they are worth over 3X what they sold for new since they are not so hard to find.
With all respect, Jonathan, $81 in 1970 is like $502 dollars in this day and age! I don't sell any of my hydraulic lifts for less than $425....maybe more. It is cheaper than the one I bought for my 123 in 2009 and the way I see it is, I have the part and do not need to sell it as the money will not make or break me. If my price is too much, then I am okay with it. Sure there are others out there, but they are getting harder to find in my neck of the woods, so the buyer can go find another one.

I do price my stuff right, like I said I always research what things are going for before I list. Believe me when I say that I just didn't pick $350 for no reason, if that's what others are selling there's for then I see no reason why mine isn't worth as much. Generally speaking the parts I sell are in better shape so actually I'm not charging enough.

Are you planning on putting the pump on an "O"?

Simple answer is it is worth what it sells for at the time of sale.
It is up to you to decide if you need to pay x amount before someone else does.
Lots of prices have been thrown around in this thread.

I paid $200 for mine.
But I got real lucky as it was on north side of Atlanta.
Which makes any vintage CC stuff rare.
It had been listed on CL for a month.
It came with the tractor and deck.

Wow, you did get a deal. The guy has now listed the tractor with the pump for 650.00. I think I will wait until he contacts me, then try to get it all for a good price. But I will not pay 650.00for it, maybe 350.00?

Does it run? You only posted the pics of the hydraulic unit.

I think that $400 would be closer to getting a yes from him. That's still not too much if it runs. If you don't want the tractor, you can likely get all your money back even after removing the hydraulic unit. (As long as you put a manual lift on it.) Even if you went to $450 or $500, and can get only $300 for the tractor on resale, you still did well. You will not have spent $350 for the hydraulic unit.

This really seems easy to me and I'm sure many others.
Something, anything is worth exactly what you can get out of it. If you and the other party agree on a price, that's what it's worth. It makes little difference what it sold for a year ago or what it will sell for a year from now.
If you ask a price that seems fair to you but high to others, you probably won't sell it or will wait a while to do so.
Good luck with selling and buying. If you want something bad enough you'll likely pay more for it, especially if it's a "hard to find" item. If you have the time maybe you can wait for a better price and a chance that another will be available. If you don't have the time and have the money....I'm sure you see my point. Each one of us has differing amounts of time and money. Use them both accordingly.
Good day to all. In the end we'll all be out of time and money, so use them both now.

Thank you guys. I am in no hurry, and I think eventually I can buy the whole works for under 500.00. I was wanting the pump to put on a 124.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
