190-325-100 Mower Deck spring length
On my deck, #190-325-100, for the 2084 the blade belt tensioning spring has almost completely broken apart as in more single coils left over than full spring.
The part is NLA. It appears to be just a compression spring so matching one up should not be a problem. My question is does anybody know the length of the spring? The best I can tell, from all the pieces I have, is it's about 8" long. Does that sound right? I'm waiting for a new belt to arrive as the old one broke and would like to have the spring in hand. Thanks.

I've got 2 -325 decks. Neither of the springs are off at the moment. Hopefully someone will chime in soon with an answer.

Thanks for the pictures Steve.
I called around a few dealers, new and used, and nobody had one. I ended up going to Ace Hardware and found 2 4" springs that looked as close as I could find as far as thickness and coil spacing. I then tack welded the two together to keep them in alignment. I ordered a new cub cadet/mtd belt and installed it. With the 8" of spring the new belt, when installed, fit snug and the spring looked to be compressed completely. I'll be trying it out tomorrow so hopefully it will work. Thanks again.

So far I have about 6hrs. of cutting time on this spring set-up and it seems to be working fine.
On the first cutting after getting it together, the grass at least a foot high and thick, I got about half way done when the mule drive belt just disintegrated into just strings. The belt was 3.5 years old and bought from Motion Industries, I guess it could not handle the heat. Anyways, I replaced it with a unknown how old, cub cadet belt that was split all the way through up to the outside 1/8" thick web. I ended up finishing the grass, which was the same height, without the belt shredding. I believe I read on this site that the cub cadet belts are the best to buy and I believe it.
