Default Wheel weights for 2518

I am looking to figure out what kind of wheel weights will fit for my 2518 for snow plowing. I was going to order some Peerless chains.

23x10.5 on 12" rims.

The OEM ones with concrete filled plastic look kind of cheesy if I could even figure out which ones fit. I'm open to any suggestions.

Here is an example of something that may(???) fit. Seems a bit pricey but should last forever.

Can someone explain how these are held on to the rim?

Can't say if they will fit your tractor but my guess is yes. Wheel weights are attached with four carriage bolts that go through the 4 square holes in your wheel. The square part under the head of the bolt fits in the square opining in the wheel.

Check out www.tirechain.com for chains

I would also recommend tirechain.com for your chains, I've bought a few sets from them and the quality can't be beat. Peerless chains seem cheap.

I will take your advice and go get the best recommended chains over at tirechain.com. Don't need any cheap junk that is going to give me a headache.

Thanks, this is helpful on how they hook up. Funny I talked to Cub Cadet support over the weekend and they said that my wheels don't have mounting holes for wheel weights but they look just like the one you have shown with the square holes. The holes are about 7.5" on center.

There is another option you may wish to use. Load the tire with your choice of liquid. RV anti freeze, wind shield washer fluid, used car anti freeze (many service shops will give it to you for free) Rim Guard or CaCl2 solution (use tubes for CaCl2)

I loaded the tires on my blade/blower cub this fall and haven't even bothered with chains this year. We've had 70.9" of snow here in northern Utah this winter; more than we've had for about 30 years. I'm a big fan of a little RV antifreeze.

I did end up getting chains and 70# (each) wheel weights.
I supposed if I didn't need the chains I'd prefer not to use them since they are a little bit of a pain but I doubt they could hurt with traction.

Waiting for a Johnny Jr bucket and plow setup and we can see how it works and add more weight if needed.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
