What is wrong with the Ventrac John? Are there any forums on Steiner/Ventrac out there?

That was a lot more work than replacing an ignition switch :-)

Cool little engine!

Bad head gasket, It was overheated last summer when the radiator sprung a leak. The oil was so far contaminated it looked like sludge and death. Honestly i didn't even look i imagine not as the average person wouldn't but one of these alot of towns and school districts do though. To replace this machine it was 24K and they didn't offer a turbo diesel option anymore.

I'll be interested if you do. My 782 has 2100 hours on it and while it runs great, I know the clock is ticking, and it would be good to learn from your experience.

I need to do a leak down test and compression test in the spring to evaluate the health of the motor maybe i can get away with a head refresh.

Well i figure it's time to update this. Pa plow day is next month and i am starting to get the old 1512 in shape to turn some soil.

I recently purchased a CV driveshaft out of a 1440, I purchased adapters from Jeff and he is going to shorten the driveshaft for me as well.

I finally stopped holding out on AG tires i bought a set on Tru powers as firestones are sold out till may. the last time i made it to plow day turfs and chains sucked as the cat 0 hitch arms would catch the chains.

I am also going to complete my power steering conversion I almost have my column bracket made im just waiting to make sure i don't have issues with the CV drive line.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
