Default What's a Haban?

Ok, I've searched though a couple hundred posts, and looked through the library, but can't find the answer to a stupid question. What's a Haban deck? I have a 60" deck on a 2182 model says 60" Deck, 372190 and either 60C or 600.

That's a Haban! It is the name of a different company that manufactured implements. They also made snow blades for Cubs. Maybe even more but my brain is otherwise occupied tonight.

Boy it sure does look like a tag underneath the riveted CC label doesn't it... I never noticed before, but never looked that close either.

That white deck is a 374 Haban deck. There are also 325 Haban decks. Here are some pictures. Similar in structure but the yellow 325 deck has different caster wheel setups. The outer pulley covers are very different also. I don't have any pictures to share of the pulley covers. The 2 early serial number break 2182's came with the white 374 deck. The 3rd serial number break tractors had the yellow 325 decks.

Thanks!!! Next, I'm trying to find out if they make mulching blades for them. I have a plate that goes over the hole for the clippings, but all they do it clump with the current blades. I will look and see what's on them when I get there again. I know the PO also left a set of blades that look like it has sharp teeth cut into the first 5" from the ends of the blades. I'll have to get pictures of those as well.

Sounds like the other blades you have described are Gator blades, which are mulching blades.

Haban was a manufacturing company in Racine WI, that made implement for various Garden Tractor Manufacturers to include IH. They made a variety of implements to include: mower decks, sickle bar mowers, front dozer blades, snow throwers, and snow blowers, to mention a few.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
