Default H-42 U-joint

Thought I had asked about this before but can't find the results??
Clip below is from parts tree, I re-typed the part # and description just because the jpeg is a little rough. Apparently the whole unit circled sold as one, I thought it was just a normal u-joint but learned that it is a "pin & block" style? No needle bearings and can't be pressed apart as far as I can tell.
Does anyone have information on what to replace this with, really appreciate any help / ideas you might have.
Thanks,
Vic

Yes, the joint comes apart. It's a common u-joint. Take it out and to a parts store and they should be able to match it up (unless they're idiots).

Thanks Jonathan, I'll give that a go, but am I right that it doesn't have needle bearings? Just want to understand what I'm talking about when I take it in.
Thanks,
Vic

Old one may not, new one may. It's irrelevant.

What is important to match up is the cap diameter and the assembled U joint width.

If the parts store doesn't have a clue, find another one that does.

Ok, I'm not trying to be difficult but got this off the blower yesterday, tried knocking one side thru even though by looking at it I didn't think it was possible, as you can see not much movement. Took it to the parts store and think I saw some items in a catalog that might be in the right direction but didn't have enough time to figure it out.
Do you still think this is a replaceable joint?
Thanks,
Vic

Yes, I still think it's replaceable. Looks like it already has been. Someone may have even had that made. ()
We may have to help you get a part number. That one is going to have to be cut out. You can't take it apart the way it is made.

Does that even have a grease zerk on it?

Sounds fun, no grease zerk, the other end is the same thing just not going bad, see pic. All help is appreciated!

PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you a Spicer drive shaft catalog. You may be better off replacing the whole thing.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
