Default Starter/generator

Hell all I have a 129 and 149, problem is starting. all connections are good and clean, and both have a new 350amp battery. But both tractors try to start and sometimes thye do but veary sluggish with poping through the carb. Now if I use a 600amp battery they start right up. Has anyone had this issus before?
I never rebuilt a starter/generator or have even taken one apart. But this is where im at.

You need to.....
First, check the condition and gap setting of the points,
Second, ignition timing,
Third, valve tappet settings,
all before you start messing with the S/G.

Run a set of jumper cables to a known good ground and the start lug of your s/g. If they start straight away, the problem lies with your cables.
Not real common but cables do deteriorate.
Had a Ku**ta recently giving me fits until I replaced the positive cable.

It sounds like you are on the right track with points and wires and valves. As you may have read, I recently had a real annoyance with hidden mouse nests slowing down the flywheel (magneto?). I thought I had them all out, but the hidden junk that was left would not allow the engine to spin fast enough. I finally hooked the nest out with bent wire and a compressed air wand.

You need to look at the exhaust valve as you turn it over by hand and be sure the ACR is bumping the valve open as it turns ! I had one that the ACR tab was broken and not lifting the valve , could never get it started no matter what !

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
