Cat 0 Box blade
Perhaps some of you have seen the new product line of category 0 implements being sold on E-Bay under the name Impact Implements. I recently purchased a box blade and thought I would share with everyone some pictures.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Impact-Imple...JY~aQv&vxp=mtr The box blade arrived unassembled, but it is simple to put together. One nice feature is it has a replaceable cutting edge. The six scarifiers are height adjustable and can be positioned so that it can be used as a blade alone. There was only one flaw that I had issue with, that being the the Cat 0 pins do not have a hex base so that they can be held in place while tightening them. I just used a taper punch to hold it. Overall, the box blade is rugged and well built. It is of heavy welded steel and powder coated. I'll post some more pictures when I grade my severely neglected gravel driveway.

We have had about three days of rain here in upstate NY with next week's forecast as more of the same. I will get some pictures of the blade in action as soon as the rain lets up. In between raindrops I played around for a couple hours on Friday and did a section of the driveway that was extremely hard packed that had grass/weeds growing up the center of the tracks. The blade and the scarifiers work really well. Pictures soon.

As requested, here are some pictures of the results of working the box blade. I made a total of 20 passes back and forth with the scarifiers down at the full depth, approximately 5" below the box blade cutting edge. Then pulling the material to the low spots and grading in, with the scarifiers up all the way. I attempted to roll the loose material in with the tractor wheels. What I really need is Dirty Steve's 1000 pound lawn roller.
The 2072 did a great job pulling the box blade. It would be better with wheel weights and chains on, because it would occasionally spin the wheels with the scarifiers down in the hard pan. As for final grade, don't confuse the quality of the tool with the skill of the operator! I'm still getting used to how quick the three point lifts and lowers under load.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
