Grease zerks
What is the best way to remove pressed in grease zerks? These zerks are pressed in the spindle shafts on my 54'' deck. Thank you for your time.

If they are pressed in and working, why do they need removed?

That's what I was thinking.
Buy a cheap coupler for your gun, like my uncle did, and they just pull right out when you're done greasing.

What Travis says is true especially if the gun builds up pressure and it won't take grease and you try to remove the gun.
I'd say if you just want/need to change them, grab/clamp them vertically with a set of vice grips and twist and pull and they will come out. Then run a 1/4 x28 tap in the hole and put new fitting in

Thank you Fellows for the replies. J-Mech, I need to remove them in order to press the pulleys off the spindle shaft.

Well,
you could use a deep well 7/16",3/8 drive socket to push on, and leave the "nipple" in the shaft |

That's what I was going to say.... put a socket on top of the shaft. George, we think so much alike.....

Thank you for the great idea Fellows. I will do it that way. In my old age I think I burnt up all the smart brain cells now I am working on the dumb ones.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
