Default Casters to support smaller mower decks

Has anyone fabricated mounts for caster wheels to support the smaller mower decks (44, 50), similar to how the Haban decks are supported?

I know user RChristensen has posted some pictures of his setup, just seeing if anyone else has built something.

Thanks!

These are the add on brackets Xtreme makes. Not sure if these fit what you are asking about exactly.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant to ask if anyone had fabbed something to have caster wheels that are specifically designed to ride on the ground to support the deck.

The ones Steve linked to are the ones designed to fit the 44/50" decks. Those decks are so small, you don't need caster wheels. Cub built them with stationary wheels, and they work fine. If you want to fab something up that is different, I think your pretty much on your own. Do it and post pics.

Correct me if I am wrong here, but I was always under the assumption the earlier decks were meant to "hang" from the tractor to the desired height and the wheels on the rear were to "help" it over high spots so as not to scalp.
That's the reason there is a stop adjustment incorporated into the design of the lift mechanism.

Of course, this only works like it should when all the holes and pins are in good shape and not overly worn or hogged out and only if adjusted properly to begin with.

At the height I mow w/my GTX2154, the wheels rarely touch the ground, of course it's only a couple years old w/low hrs. yet.

That is my understanding as well. Reading through some old posts, some people have the standard wheels adjusted to engage the ground at all times. But the manual, at least for the 44A deck, specifies that the wheels are not to support the deck, just to prevent scalping.

That's right.... because on a 44" deck, you don't need them to run on the ground at all times. They do just fine as they were made.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
