Default 2284 rear PTO brush hog question

My 2284 has the front pto mule drive with the 60 inch mower. I would like to use a small brush hog but it doesn't seem like everything I have read so far will work. I was going to buy the cat 0 3 point setup but then I have no way to power the brush hog. I haven't found any brush hog setups that can use a hydrostatic motor to power the mower. Any suggestions or am I just wanting too much from this cub. Thank you.

You can't use a rear mounted Bush Hog style mower unless it is made for that model tractor. Cub Cadet did make one, but you would have to have the 3pt hitch AND rear PTO installed on your tractor. The rear PTO and 3pt together will likely run you around $900 IF you can find one... and the mower will usually run in the $1500+ range.... IF you can find one.

Your better off finding a small tractor for use with a rear bush hog mower.

Thank you J and Oak. The swisher unit is what I started looking at last night. I have 4 acres of woods and brush to start cleaning up. Once I get stuff cleared I can put the 60" deck back on and mow. Putting a 30 by 50 shop in.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
