Deck question
I have a question regarding decks- I was recently given a 48 in cc deck listed as "48 GT Deck serial 317190", I think it came off of a Cyclops tractor- it will not match up with what is currently under the 882 but the question if I can find the correct mule drive will it the 882?? I sort of like this deck as it looks like it will float on the terrain opposed the original one.
I am also interested in others opinion of this deck. thanks in advance- pete |

It's not a question of mule drive, as it is a matter of subframe. You need a different subframe for it to work. Plus, the PTO on a cyclops had a larger pulley. You will need to change the drive pulley, or the PTO, but IIRC, you can swap pulleys with either an old "C" deck, or get one for an early cyclops deck that was for the tractor with the 4.5" PTO. Maybe Sam will come along and verify this as I don't want to go on a part number hunt right now. Feel free to peruse the parts books to find the answer yourself.

The OP will definitely need to match pullies.
I have several 48"/54" decks and IMO are the best decks CC made for the older garden tractors. |

I forgot to add, the spindle bearings are all replaceable with common bearings.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
