Default Can Danco loaders pump be shared for power steering?

Hi All,
I have a 147 with a danco loader. I'm considering adding power steering to my little tractor.

The loader is powered by a belt driven Cessna 2.5 GPM pump.
My question is can the pump also be used for power steering?
I've seen cubs that have had pumps added for power steering and also some powered by ported sunstrand hydros.

Power steering appeals to me as the steering quite heavy with the FEL. I've already rebuilt the Ross steering unit with both the upgrade kit and a 4 turn worm gear. Dispite these upgrades the heavy steering takes a lot of the joy out of operating my 147.

Thanks!
Rick

As long as you run the power steering handpump first in series, yes, it should work just fine. 2.5 gpm is right about what the hydro pump puts out, so it won't overfeed a handpump. You have to put power steering first, or when you run the loader it will divert fluid away from the steering.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

By "handpump" do you mean the device (valve?) that would connect to and respond to the steering wheel?

Yes......

Before you attempt this, perhaps you better read up about hydrostatic power steering. It's different than a car, which is actually power assisted steering. Very different.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
