Default Original

This Original is one of three that I have picked up recently. Has fenders, wheel weights, creeper gear, Danco BB-36 and I also got the oil bath and original headlights that came along with it. The original brochure came with the package as well and has the prices handwritten on it which I thought was pretty neat!

WOW that is nice!! Is that original paint or has it been restored in the past? Do you know any history with it?

Thanks! The tractor was repainted a few years ago according to the PO. The tractor was originally sold at H.L. Gage Sales in Altamont, NY. Supposedly the 1961 Original that I got from him a few weeks back was the very first Cub Cadet sold at that same dealership.

The seller also included several NOS parts for an Original in the deal.

Thanks Jonathan! I'm only up to 6 Cubs now. At one time I had twice that many Originals alone.

There is a guy who has a bunch of originals who lives up by you, I thought you got it from him.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
