123 w/ 48 inch mower deck
My question is the lift frame assembly or quick release frame. . I appologize. For the wrong terminology. Basically i have it attached and the mower deck as well. On the 123 model .I have checked many videos and pics. Of every piece and they are correct. But the belt i got which 2 seperate dealers. Said are the correct belt. Well its way too loose. I have adjusted. The tensioner pulley to the max still no luck. Im. Not so computer savey, so getting pics here. Is not happening yet. So can anyone tell me by. The serial number on the back. Of the mower. To confirm the year. And. The number on the mower deck ? And does anyone have pics. Of the right quick attachment frame.? If have see some with. A triangle type attachement. To the front on Either side and others. With. A flat strap with a slot sorry for the rambling. But i want to get this figured out. Ps the belt part number i was goven was IH-473 462-R. ITS 3/8 X 81 INCHES

Are you sure it's a 48" deck?
There are different belts for the 42" and 48". On my 125, which should be the same as your 123, with a 48" deck, the part number is 489397R3, which is 3/8 x 75" I believe. I think all the 48's basically mount the same, with two pins on the back, and the two lift supports in the front that slide into the lift frame arms. |

The easy tell is that the outside blades on the 42" are quite a bit smaller than the main blade, whereas on the 48" they are closer to the same size. Also, the 48" deck has a guide bar on the left side that wraps all the way around, whereas the 42" doesn't loop around the back. These get beat up and worn out a lot, though. Also the 48" is quite a bit wider (obviously). Anyway, the Belt Chart (which can be found in the technical library section) should tell you all you need to know. That guide says 489397R3, which matches what I've got. |

Is the tag on the deck? If not, turn the blades, the two outside one's so that they are pointing to the outside of the deck, (side to side) and measure across. Then you will know the cutting width...

Another thing is that on the 38 and 42, I believe the gauge wheel bracket bolts onto the back of the deck, where on the 48" they attach to a bracket that's welded to the back and top of the deck.

Its def a 48 inch deck. All 3 blades. The same size and has ring on outside that wraps around that helps. Thanks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
