Hmm alright. I'm still trying to figure this all out. I don't know why, but I'm having a hard time finding the right pulley size :-/

I would think that it would be alright for you to leave that pulley on and run a 1/2" belt on the 5/8" pulley, just not backwards.....you couldn't run a 5/8" belt on a 1/2" pulley. I don't see what the harm would be if you used that with a 1/2" belt.

3.5" shive is absolutely fine! There r several websites that sell "speed up pulleys" for snowthrowers. It will work well!

1/2 in belt in a 5/8 pulley for sure not in a blower as the belt uses the side of the belt for power transfer as well it would be prone to slippage its not what I would recommend if you can trade with a guy for the correct one 4in comes to mind I know guys run them faster but for me its not a good idea

Have you put a 3.5" pulley on a snowthrower? ..... Because, that has got to be less than half of what the pulley that is supposed to be on it is. If I'm not mistaken, it is a 7.5" pulley isn't it? 6" anyway. I'm with Ray on this one. BAD IDEA. It'll run faster alright, but you'll slip the belt.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
