Merk,
This is really helpful and for me timely. I've been working on a 100. And like my other tractors there are the signs of a few hands that did work on it. Some of which just isn't right. I'm not talking correct police correct, but common sense right. And these pictures go a long way in showing what I need to know. One of my concerns with this 100 is that it had no brake rod on it. Sure they are NLA but they can be had. I got one. But I'm hoping against hope that it was not removed because the brake was stuck. If I do need to fix a bad brake you can bet I'll be downloading this page to make sure all goes as it should. Thanks for the great contribution. |

I'm not worried about the paint on cooling fins. The paint is not hi temp paint. It will burn off if it gets hot enough. My 100 has paint on cooling fins. Haven't burned it off.....yet. The was 2 years ago. I didn't plan to paint part of bearing plate...pain to tape off. I don't paint heads. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
