Question Yellow fever again

Looking on Creagslist tonight and there is a model 70 all original, front lights, rear red tail light, deck finders, and the hub caps.( and it is running) showed it to my wife and she says call about it if you want to and we can go look at it after work tomorrow .
asking $425.00 and has had it listed for 3 days .
Question is $425.oo to far out of line for one that is original , running and looks good for its age.
It looks like a $400.00+ cub to me, But as my wife talles me form time to time what do I know.
If it a nonsmoker and the deck runs good I will be adding to my stable.
there is more then one way to get that new garage I've been wanting.
I know that photos are a must and some day I will get one of the grand kids to help me with that.

Thanks for the feed back
Joe

If its ready to mow grass and with those options, not a horrible price. Its more than I would pay for one that old, but I don't really want a lawnmower that old either. Unless you get one a collector has "assembled" from various machines, it may take a while to find one with all the options it already has. Seems like your mind is made up already so go get it, call the grandkids and post some pics for us. Good Luck!

If it runs good and mows and looks decent I could get more than $425 out of it in a heartbeat.

At this point in life, I don't have time for a "working" mower that is that old, but primarily that SLOW. Don't get me wrong, we have lots of old stuff here we still use, I have a 1944 Case tractor we use about loading hay and straw. Its a beast of a machine, that is doing childs play loading bales, but it can handle that job at its age reliably, just as good as a $40,000 machine. Regarding time, I haven't cranked the 128 all year. Its an absolute classic I love, but just don't have the time. Me, Dad, and my son cut grass the other week with 3 Cadets covering 170" per pass--and it still took over 2 hours, and we weren't messing around either--twin cylinders RULE.

Gotcha John. You have a. lot. of grass. Its been a big grass season arou d here too, although the 95 plus heat slows things down a bit. Ive just got a half acre lawn so its not a chore, and Im not any kind of farmer.

Would love to see a pic of your vintage big iron!

If the fenders and IH hub caps are not beat up, there is $ 400 + the lights are worth another $100+ so it looks like the tractor is free.

I use to love mowing with my older Cub's but ever since I got the 782 I wouldn't consider doing it unless it was a necessity. The 782 has so much power I can fly through the yard and still get a great cut.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
