129 Belt madness
Hi, quick or not so quick question...
I have an IH Cub Cadet 128 with a 44 inch deck. The belts are in really bad shape, so I decided to order some online after looking at the belt/blade and pto reference guide. The generator/starter belt went on fine, although 30" seems kinda small, starter/generator is almost up against the engine, but it works, 32" would've been perfect. The real problem is the PTO belt. Well, something is screwy either in my order or my reading comprehension, I received a 1/2" by 103" belt, but the one I took off appears to be approx. 81". Can anyone please tell me the part number that I should order for an ~81" belt to go from PTO on 128 to a 44" deck. Oh, yeah, my mule gears are angled toward the center of the mower, so it is the correct mule. Someone had asked me that on my hello post. Thanks in advance, Jason |

If you go to the cub cadet parts web site or the partstree web site you will find the part numbers you need. Pretty simple.
http://www.partstree.com/parts/cub-cadet/ http://www.cubcadet.com/equipment/cu...vice-and-parts To save you some $$ the belts are cheaper if you search the web E bay ect.

The wife decided to get scientific and measure it with a piece of cut string. It is exactly 80". I googled 1/2 x 80" cub cadet belt and received the following part number: 954-3037 I am going to order that and I should be in business. I will probably sharpie it under the engine cowl so I don't have to go through this mess again. |

The belt for that tractor should be 3/8 not 1/2

Hope it helps ! I think the center pulley correct for the 44 inch deck on a 108 would be about 5 inches ? the later 44 inch decks had a smaller dia pulley and a wider belt I believe, not real familiar with the 44/44A/44C decks just getting into them with the 149 I'm currently working on !

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
