I just got finished repairing mine. It wasn't bad as I thought it would be. I bought a new square plate that's the correct size for the Trunnion from Jeff on here and welded it on. I replaced the springs and the chevy emblem looking plate cause they were both wore out as well.

Default Repaired the Trunnion. Now I know what it does.

Couple weeks back I didn’t even know what a Trunnion was... wow. Now I’ve repaired mine.
My work is not as neat as some of the pics I’ve seen here. But it’s working very well now.
I cut the outer piece of steel off and welded on a new piece of stock steel. It’s a much thicker piece than the original sizes steel that was on the outer surface. The build up seen along the inside edge is anti-seize that I coated along the surfaces where the springs ride.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
