Default "Cheater" cams

Ok guy's, long time lurker first time poster. I have to say the knowledge in these pages is priceless and has saved me a lot of long hours and bloody knuckles! So to my question. I have access to a Lakota cheater cam and a Zack Kerber gov 3 cam. Any one here running these cams? This is going in a .030 over k301 with a 6.125 rod and the short piston. I'm leaning towards the Kerber but would like to know if it will be to much cam for a 3800 rpm motor. The class I'm running is basically a stock class with no cam restrictions and a 4000 rpm rule. I'm also wondering about a weighted front starter pulley, are the benefits there in the slower turning engines? Also while I have everyone's attention, opinions on the life expectancy of a forged crank with a heavy flywheel and starter pulley under 4000 rpm, or do I need to spend the extra money on billet? Thanks for any help that you guys can offer!

the #3 cam from Kerber is designed for a goverened engine. I used one last year in a customer engine and was very pleased with the numbers. very wide band. you do need to use thewide base lifters

forged crank ? I see no problems, stock cast crank I would.

stockers like swinging mass

Thanks for the reply! Kerber it is, I have springs and lifters so now I'm waiting on the crank. Hoping to pick up a bit more torque and the old girl to pull! Took first in it's only pull last year but I think it was more dumb luck than anything, anyways I want to put her several feet further down the track this year!

Fall 2014: http://youtu.be/mkDnRouJx5E

This one has a gov #3 in it with LP head all other internal parts are stock dimensions. I don't think it idles to bad. It just likes it better up about 1,200 rpm.

The only reason I'm concerned with idle is to sneak into a bone stock class!

You are not going to be able to sneak back into a bone stock class with that cam. You will put 50+ feet on second place.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
