New From MN
Over the weekend i picked up my first cub cadet. A 100 with a mower deck and creeper. Being as I have only owned the green ones, I have some questions?
Where is the serial number? I know it should be on the side, but I cant find it. Some of the clutch parts have a lot of play as the holes aren't round any more. How should I go about fixing them? I'm sure they'll be more. Thanks AJC |

The 100 is a great tractor. One of our members Tim (olds) has a good thread on a restoration he just finished on his. Be worth checking out if that's in your future. Here's the owners, and chassis manuals. You will find the serial number location in the owners manual. Good luck, and again, welcome. http://ccmanuals.info/pdf/70-100%20O...r%20Manual.pdf http://ccmanuals.info/pdf/70-100%20Service%20Manual.pdf

Thanks for the manuals. Got the oil changed out. It was running pretty good, so I tried mowing. After a bit it started smoking. Turns out the engine shroud is packed full of grass. Looks like i will be pulling the engine to get it all out. Did find the serial number under a lot of grease. S/N 102133.

Welcome AJC, good to have you. Looks like you have a December 1964 edition 100. Awesome that it has a creeper gear too. Been looking for a 70/100 to add to my collection. Congrats on the yellow and white one!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
