so engine is just about done. anyone have an opinion on using the original muffler box vs. just leaving the muffler unenclosed. trying to keep underhood temps down. the hood will have louvers in it. the box will need to be modified to accomodate the ohv engine. but i plan on using a quietline muffler converted to a glass pack.

Well as for the muffler box, I don't know. I have them on my 1200 and 1211. Just curious about the muffler, a glass pack??? Better get ear plugs too! But what do I know I have a straight pipe on my 1200! Lol

the way i will be doing it wont make it much louder then stock. just deeper. its using the original can from a QL. i did one for my 127 with a built motor. not unbearably loud but the neighbors know when im mowing.

Long time no updates.
little color to a black engine. so far so good. I think it complements the engine nicely and will do the same for the tractor once in. need to figure out a muffler next. Just ordered a new muffler for the 169. hope to have that all squared away soon. The question is should i bother repainting the tractor or just clean it up and use it? this is in regards to the 169. The 1650 shall be getting new paint when done. Lots of things to do. Engine is almost done. Got a carb on its way (now i have three) hopefully this one is rebuildable. The first carb that came with the engine had the low speed jet epoxied in cause it was converted to propane. the second carb has a crack in the body right near the right side ear.

just picked up a dual hydro 1650. going to use the parts to make a duplicate for the 1850 project. I was planning on just parting out this 1650 but its pretty complete and i have all the parts to make it whole again so i figure just use the duel hydro parts as a template and then have two dual hydro tractors. here are some pics of the goodies. moving to a new house in two weeks. hopefully I will be able to work more in the winter. the garage is twice the size of where i am at now and its heated. more pics and updates to follow.

Was able to get some work in on the Cub Cadet 1850. Painted and installed the air cleaner, rebuilt the third carb i found for the k361 as the first two were not salvageable. I machined the spacers for the bolts for the PTO which came off of a M18 kohler as well as machined the spacer for the end of the crankshaft. It originally came from a k341. I had to shorten it and bore it out to fit over the k361s larger diameter crankshaft. I also purchased another dual hydro setup as I will put the 1650 that I purchased with dual hydro back together. Picked up k341 for it just need to get it running and drop it in. enjoy the pictures.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
