Default SGT tillers

Wanted some opinions on how the tillers perform? Ive never ran one or seen one in person. I was looking into a rear pto and tiller for the 2284, so i thought i would ask.

rear pto's are hard to find and not cheap , you might be better off finding one with it's own engine , I assume you have the 3pt. hitch already...

It works just like any PTO driven tiller. Ever ran a tractor with a tiller? Works just like that.

They work fine but with a 48'' tiller on the back you need a 100 pounds up front to keep the nose down

Filling the front tires help also... and they are a beast... Get the weight bracket from Extreme and hang some weights on it....

We have a 6 ft king cutter we use now on the farmall 504. I just thought it would be nice to have something a little more compact for the garden. We also have 540 48 inch john deere but that wont work on the cub due to the hook up plus it will spin to fast, is this correct or could the pto be slowed down with different pullys?

Tillers can be found easy enough.... Search for PTO's on ebay or trashed 982's 1872,
2072, 1914, 1912's... they are out there.... Found a 1914 with 3pt and PTO for 100 bucks at an auction.... heard the comments that "he paid way too much for that".... DA didn't know what the 3pt brought.... Typical Bailing Wire crowd....

Well this is interesting it looks like this had a pto before. For some reason the stud for the tightener was removed and the hole on the plate covered up.

As far as I know, all SGT's came with the cover plate for the PTO. Why someone welded the hole shut for it is beyond understanding.

Before you delve into this, have you priced a PTO set up? The tillers usually bring less.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
