Default $125 electric power steering.

This is new to me but maybe you have seen it

A guy pulled an electric steering unit off a car and bought a wiring harness to make it work on his sports car. It could be a hard to tuck one of these units in a cub but there are enough people working on custom stuff that this might still be of interest. Maybe there are smaller units.

They could be used anywhere to amplify the torque on a shaft. No idea how much.

I know some of those pull upwards of 60 amps of current and use a feedback signal for amount of boost pressure.

They have them for ATV's. They are too expensive an option IMHO. You can find the ATV ones on Evil-Pay.

The current draw should be somewhat proportional to the load. Turning the wheels on a 500 lb garden tractor is easier then the 2000+lb car. I am not saying a 15A alternator can or can not keep up.

The junk yard units are cheap enough if you pull them.

It kind of is..... but it's not. When it calls for pressure, the cars have two different settings for power/pressure. Low and high. The auto ones are not going to work, but the ATV ones would.

If you buy this



and use it with the steering unit shown in the video it will work for an investment of about $125. The little box makes it happen.

I have no plans to use one.
Don't own stock in anything related to it.
Just figured it was interesting which it is because you say it won't work but it does. At least in the movies.

No, you are misunderstanding me. I said it won't work on a cub. It has nothing to do with the little thing of wires the guy is holding.

Listen man, he says in the vid that the assist box is from a 2002-2007 Saturn Vue. Well, that unit is powered through an 80 amp fuse (in the Vue). So, unless you can get a CC generator or alternator to put out upwards of 100 amps, it isn't going to work on a CC. I don't just watch vids and read on the internet man, I work on this stuff everyday. It's a neat idea...... but not with that particular equipment. Like I said, an ATV unit should be low enough amperage to possibly adapt, but I didn't even bother to dig into it to see how many amps they take.

my dads newer cub cadet has this allready. it seems that the more effort you put into it the easier it steers. he and i both hate it gradual turns feels like no assist at all

There was a thread on MTF about a guy adding power steering and he was using the hydraulics for and out board boat motor. Think it was in the Bolens section. Don't know if he ever got it finished.

what do you need P/S on the cub for a F E L ?
my 128 turns so easy it is like it has P/S already ,but I have 6" wide turf frt. tires with a crown to them
