Thanks for the info, I thought I would be able to just push the pin out and replaced. Is there a video to show replacing the drive train on a cub?

Dude, go find a shop. This is going to be a bit much for you to do yourself, I can already tell. If you need to watch a video to change a busted roll pin..... yeah. Take it to a shop.

And I don't think you want a video showing how to replace the drivetrain on a Cub. The drivetrain starts at the flywheel and ends at the wheels. You don't need to remove that much to change a roll pin.

Hey Dude,

It finally stopped raining and I was able to get the tractor outside to work on it and in the day light and I can see the coupler under the shifter and the spiral pins look ok. Before I put it away Friday, I adjusted the brakes so they are now working. I think my problem is the clutch is shot. Here's what's happening. When I start the tractor in neutral, the drive shaft starts spinning and when I push the clutch in it continues to spin, but as soon as I put in gear and let the clutch out with some grinding, the drive shaft stops. I also started it up in gear and the tractor moved about 30' then stopped and the drive shaft was still spinning. I tried pushing the tractor in gear and it moved 2' and then the wheels locked up. Do I need to remove the bottom plate to adjust the clutch or is it shot.......

Sorry, to be such a baby, put the local CC dealers don't want to work on the tractor because of the age. Their reply was, "Time for a new tractor".

Ok. So when I got my 126 I had a similar issue. I would get some grinding in almost any gear. Thought the clutch was out of adjustment. I did not adjust it right away. So the grinding got a little worse and at one point could not get it in reverse. I moved it a bit and then it went in reverse. Well it eventually got stuck in reverse. It was stuck in reverse except for one position in the gear box. If I went to 3rd gear and let the clutch out the drives shaft would spin but not move forward or reverse. I pulled the fenders and the gear box cover and found a loose bolt on the linkage at top of gear box. Tightened it up an now all gear work great. I didn't pull the cover until after I was certain the clutch adjustment was in spec.. So something to look into if you think your clutch is good.

So take it somewhere besides Cub Cadet. I didn't say take it to a dealer, I said take it to a shop.

Sounds like you have a broken spirol pin, and a worn out clutch both.

If you insist on working on it yourself (bad idea from what I'm reading) then have you downloaded the manual yet??

Where are you at in Maryland?

I have the manual and downloaded the service manual. Live in MD, but have a Summer home in NY and the Tractor is in Hilton, NY.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
