Default Wheel Weight Bolts

I just picked up a used set of 75lb Cub Cadet rear wheel weights for my 2082. I didn't get the mounting bolts with them, they seem to be just long carriage bolts, is there anything special about them? What length is needed for the wider rear wheels on the SGT's, I am assuming the SGT's run a wider rim to fit the bigger tires?

Not sure what diameter but if you can't find carriage bolts all thread may work with nylock nuts fore and aft may do the trick! Where in PA are you from????

1/2 inch carriage bolts. Not sure what length you will need for those weights. You could buy long and cut off the excess.

This is post 2 of 2 with some information on this wheel weight kit.

For my set, I actually used the "all thread" method listed in the attachement and it works well. I do, however, have them in all 4 holes.

Good luck.

I found over-length carriage bolts at a tractor show, installed the weights, then nipped off the excess with bolt cutters,,,,

It was the only size he had,,,

I just picked up long carriage bolts at surplus city... they had the 1/2" ones up to 12" in length.

Thumbs up

Thanks Guys! This was what I was looking for, I had thought about the all thread method but wasn't sure it was an "approved" method. I like the fact the threaded rod is captured on the rim before you try to wrestle a 75 lb weight on to a couple of wobbly carriage bolts. That tech sheet says 1/2" rod, is that with or without the inserts in the weights? My weights are missing a couple of those inserts and I don't think a 1/2" bolt will fit without pushing those inserts (bushings) out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
