Hello ! Even though I was already an IH fan and tractor owner it wasn't until last May that I bought my first CUB CADET tractor, a 1250 Hydro. I found this one while passing the local scrap yard; (yes, it was sold for scrap). This tractor was in beautiful condition with real nice original paint, chrome plated IH hubcaps, and nice original paint/decals snow blade. the PO had taken great care of this tractor !
Although it's condition was unknown, I took the gamble and bought it and was rewarded with a fine running tractor thanks to the helpful advice of other CC owners.

The lesson here : PLEASE WATCH YOUR LOCAL SCRAP YARDS !!!!! GOOD TRACTORS ARE BEING SCRAPPED !

This Fall I added a CUB CADET 70 with mower deck and snow thrower. So far this tractor seems to reject all attempts to make it run, but I have got it to run for a brief time. It has an electrical issue/problems !
My last addition was found by accident at an auction sale in the next block from my house. There were no tractors, but a #1 cart in decent condition. If I told you how much I paid for it you might cry, so we'll leave that one alone.
L
ooking forward to meeting all you good CC people !

Welcome to OCC....

By the looks of your User ID, would I be correct you are a C&O Steam Engine and RR fan...???

As you tackle into that 70, just ask away. We have a vast array of talent here.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
