Default Kubota power 2182 gas, carb question

Hello to all and thank you for your expert help to date.

Well, I seem to have my gas 2182 running again. flushed tank and new filter and lines. I have a new fuel pump and coil at the ready, but, it is staying running now.

Rotor and cap looked like new, no changes there.

Still suspect vent in cap, coil, module in distributor or fuel pump for the intermittent shut down I was seeing, but, for now it seems good.

I had the carb off and apart and thought I would take the jets out, verify they are clear. It seems to have a large jet, and, when you remove it, there is a much smaller pilot or idle jet up inside of the larger one.

I tried to back out the smaller jet, it turns, but, I never got it out. Now, I cant thread it back in tight either. ????

Symptom now is, at anything above a fast idle, the engine runs quite rich and erratically. It keeps running, but, is not right.

I dont understand the function of that electrical piece in the bottom of the float bowl, or, what I may have done trying to remove that inner small jet.

Before I tear it apart again, I would like to hear from the experts.

Thank you,

John

I'm no expert but the electric part on the bottom is a solenoid. It shuts off the gas when you turn off the key. You can test it by holding the metal body of the
plunger to the negative post on your battery the the end of the wire to the positive. (Or any other 12v source) I cut the plungers off all mine cause it's just one more thing to go wrong.
Need to see a pic of this thing you can't get back in

Thanks for the reply. good to know the function of that solenoid is just that simple.

I have to play with this some more. Tractor starts up and runs great, but, when I had it warmed up the other day, it was running way rich and struggling.

I am sure with that inner jet loose up in there, that cant possibly be right.

I will post when I have more information.

thanks,

j

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
