Default Battery??

What is the best battery for a mower. I need one the same size as a garden tractor battery. Do they make a gel battery that size?

Yes, I have a couple, mainly used in back-up power supplies. If you can't find them I'll get the info off of mine.

my local Sam's Club sells energizer branded mower batteries. I've have one in my LT1045 for 4 years and still going strong.

Interstate also makes L&G batteries. Suggested retail $72!!!!!

I bought my last batteries from the local Interstate distributor (not retailer). They have what they call "Shelf batteries" which are batteries that have sat on the retail shelves too long so they pull them and sell them without a warranty. I bought one for my truck and a couple for mowers, I think they were $25 each (even the truck battery). My uncle has had some in his golf cart too and they have been there for a couple of years.

I've also had great luck with this battery. I made the mistake of trying the Briggs battery from TSC which is a little higher CCA but my smoker started easier with the Autozone battery.

I have a "connection" that works on power wheel chairs. When one battery goes bad in the chair, the procedure is to replace both. So he is able to bring home the good battery and use them or sell them. I have bought some from him and they are awesome. They are Gel filled and are way to heavy to carry with one hand like the ones you get at Tractor Supply. I have no idea the price, but you could check with a local power wheel chair company and see if they sell them or see where they buy theirs from. These are the only batteries i will ever use from now on in my garden tractors.
Side note, I do not have any of these gel batteries in my diesels. They all came with good batteries and I havent had to change them yet. With that said, I do not know the CCA for these gels I am referring to.

The ones the feller gets are Distributed by MK Battery out of Anaheim CA.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
